story of stuff

The story of stuff is an explanatory video which gives insight into the life of products, beginning from the extraction of raw materials to the sale and disposal of goods. I thought that the idea of creating awareness on a very important issue was good i do not agree with many of the points that Annie Leonard discussed. 

Leonard comments on the so called viciousness nature of consumerism. However i thought her argument was invalid, as she has not chosen an adequate example. The nature of technology and science is to progress, to improve, to better what has already been made or done. Science and technology help civilisation progress, without them we would be stuck in the stone age. Crt moniters have many advantages over lcd screens that are not mentioned in her rationale, they consume less energy, and can have larger thinner screens. 

Overall I thought that this video contained a lot of left wing fluff however it did well to create awareness on the link between the rise in global warming/environmental pollution and the buying habits of consumers over the twentieth and twenty first centuries.
